Say hello to Luna!
This beautifully marked cow plushie stands about 28 cm tall and was inspired by the Tirol Grey, one of my favorite breeds of cattle. Luna's main body color is stone grey with dark areas on the head and front legs. She sports markings typical for the breed, along with a black tail tip and dark feet. Luna's head is very rich in details. It features tiny baby horns and a detailed muzzle with proper nostrils. The mouth is slightly open and sports a pink tongue that can be tucked away inside. The feet have been given just as much attention and sport actual cloven hooves and petite dew claws. Every one of these tiny details, and the above mentioned markings, have been sewn by hand. All in all this plushie is made from a whopping 110 handsewn pieces! Luna is a semi-posable calf, meaning that she is able to alter between basic standing and sitting positions.
The Tirol Grey is a hardy breed of alpine cattle. It is native to the Tirol region in southern Austria and South Tirol in nothern Italy. Locally it is known as Tiroler Grauvieh and Grigio Alpina respectively. Tirol Greys are dual purpose cattle, meaning that they are raised for both milk and meat production. The milk these cows produce is rich in protein and fat, which makes it both well tasting and ideal for cheese making.
The Tyrol Grey is known for its distinctive grey color, which is often described as a blue-grey or silver-grey shade, but greyish brown individuals are also common. The areas around the eyes and lower parts of the body are typically a lighter shade and the muzzle is almost white. Bulls are often darker with a light grey "saddle" across the back. Tyrol Grey calves are born with a lighter color and gradually develop their adult coloring as they grow older and mature.
This plushie will be recreated upon order. It will be made in an environment free of cigarette smoke and perfume, but not entierly pet free as I have cats.
As with all items in my store, this plushie was originally designed by me and will also be reproduced by me. A lot of effort and care goes into making a lifelike plushie like this. Particularly into the many details of the head and feet, which contain many tiny parts that are notoriously hard to assemble, but also into sewing all the markings.
The body will be made from a combination of some of my best faux furs. The furs used for the the body are incredibly realistic and have a flat laid pile with a nap length of up to 10 mm. The inside of the ears will be made with simillar fur. The tip of the tail will be made from high quality mongolian faux fur, with a pile length of 90 mm. Horns, nose and feet will be made with synthetic suede, a fabric that is made to resemble brushed leather and has a soft feel to it. Medium length faux fur will be used to create the scruff of hair that covers the base of the horns. Minky will be used for the furry parts of the snout and upholstery grade velour for the tongue. The plush will be fitted with plastic safety eyes that measure 14 mm across and are fastened with washers. Imitate leather will be used to outline the eyes to improve their shape and to make them more life like. The legs will be sealed off from the rest of the body, allowing them to be stuffed firmly enough to carry the weight of the the body, while the rest of the calf is stuffed very lightly. Plastic beads will be added to the tail to keep it in a downward position.
This plush is best used as an ornamental piece for indoors decoration purposes. It is not suitable as a toy and should be kept away from young children and pets at all times. It can be used for play with older children if handled gently. Keep in mind though, that this is an artist doll. It is a work of art and not a toy. The plush can't be washed if it gets dirty and may easily get damaged.
