Item Description:
Say hello to Bella the adorable baby donkey! This handmade plushie stands about 38 cm tall and is semi-posable, meaning that it is able to alter between basic standing and sitting positions. It is made in a lifelike style, using super soft rabbit style fur, and features many intricate details, such as markings typically found in donkeys, realistic hooves and a detailed muzzle with actual nostrils. There's even a cute little pink tongue, that can be tucked away inside the mouth. All in all this plushie is made from a whopping 144 individual pieces, most of which are handsewn!
Bella has been modelled after the American Miniature Mediterranian donkey. As the name suggests, the ancestors of this breed can be traced back directly to the minitaure donkeys, that were once abundant on the islands of Sardinia and Sicily. Originally brought over from Africa as beasts of burden, they were used by the common man to help with everyday tasks, like pulling carts, carrying supplies and other farm work. Thanks to their small size, they were even employed inside peasant huts to turn grinding stones for grain, a tedious task that comprised of walking in endless circles for hours on end, whilst being blindfolded. Modern day American Miniature Mediterranian donkeys enjoy a much more pleasant life, most often kept as beloved pets purely for company.
Materials:
This lifelike looking plushie will be recreated upon order. As with all items in my store, Bella was originally designed by me and will also be reproduced by me. She will be made in an environment free of cigarette smoke and perfume, but not entierly pet free as I have cats.
Bella's body will be made from three shades of super soft rabbit style faux fur with a pile length of 10 mm. A combination of luxury faux furs will be used for the furry part of the head, mane and tail tip. Short pile minky will be used for the furry parts of the muzzle and upholstery grade velour for the tongue. The insides of the nostrils and hooves will be made with synthetic suede, a fabric that is made to resemble brushed leather and has a soft feel to it. The bottom of the hooves will be created from a combination of faux suede, faux leather and embroidery, in order to give them detail and dimension. The plushie will be fitted with 12 mm plastic safety eyes, which are lined with black imitate leather to improve their shape and to make them more lifelike. The ears will be fastened with plastic safety joints, allowing them to alter position. Foam inserts and fabric membranes will be added in places to lend shape. The legs will be sealed off from the rest of the body, allowing them to be stuffed firmly enough to carry the weight of the the body, while the rest of the donkey is stuffed much more lightly. Plastic beads will be added to add extra weight to the hooves and tail tip.
Usage:
This plushie is best used as an ornamental piece for indoors decoration purposes. It is not suitable as a toy and should be kept away from young children and pets at all times. It can be used for play with older children if handled gently. Keep in mind though, that this is an artist doll. It is a work of art and not a toy. The plush can't be washed if it gets dirty and may easily get damaged.
